December 1st, 2007
I wake up at the crack of dawn. My bag is packed, Grubblyplank is taking my classes, and Minerva has given me permission to be away from the campus until the eighth.
I take my bag and walk down to Hogsmeade, then Apparate to the place Megan asked me to meet her in London. She still hasn't told me how we are traveling.
"Oh good, you made it," Megan breathes a sigh of relief, then hands me a small packet. "Don't lose that." She pauses then looks around the area, which is fairly nondescript, though I can hear voices. They must be some distance away since I can't see them. "I feel like I'm forgetting something..." she murmurs. Then there is the sound of something loud from nearby, though I can't see what it is since we are inside. She looks into her satchel then shakes her head. "Now I remember. Where's your wand?"
"In my pocket . . . why?" I look around, still holding the packet. "Did you buy an international portkey? Maybe that's what you forgot."
She gives me an odd look and then shakes her head. "I warned you that we might have to take Muggle transportation. I might need to hide your wand too."
"I don't want to be without my wand, Megan. I can hide it myself. And Muggle transportation will be a lark."
"You've never been to an airport apparently," she remarks. "It's a bit...difficult. I've only flown once before, but I have heard a lot from others."
I take my small carryon satchel and magically thread my wand through the bottom seam--right where the bag is braced so that it won't crumple. "I can hide it here. How about your wand?"
Megan nods. "It's hidden. Good hiding place. Ready?"
"Ready." I kiss her softly. "This is your show."

Dear Megan,
Can I meet you today? I miss you. I'll be in Hogsmeade at three. I hope I find you there.
Always,
Charlie
Dear Charlie,
I will meet you near the Shrieking Shack at three. I have something to tell you.
-Megan

Minerva gave me permission to go into Hogsmeade for some supplies I need for an upcoming class. She said she’d cover for me for three hours. Since I’m in Hogsmeade on a weekday, I feel cheated not having a friend to spend my time with. I need to see Megan.

"Uuumff. Watch where you're going, Professor Snape."
October 12th, 2007
Natalie gets a nervous look on her face. "Um. Yes, sir."
I remember all the times I thought I was in trouble, or even the way I feel when McGonagall calls me into her office. "Don't worry, Miss McDonald, you're not in trouble," I reassure her.
She nods, relaxing some. "I'll see you then, Professor." She then heads off to meet Caley who is waiting for her.
I smile--she's a good kid. It's her friend I'm worried about.

Dear Megan,
We need to talk. Can you floo by around 9:30 tonight.? It's important.
September 25th, 2007
Minerva comes behind my chair at breakfast. "Come and see me today during your prep time, Professor. I will be expecting you."
September 22nd, 2007
With a careful word to my prefects and notice to Minerva that I will be out of the castle, I walk down to the edge of the castle grounds and out the gate before I Apparate to Hogsmeade.
September 8th, 2007
I knock on the headmistress's door. I need to see about getting a floo connection between Madeline's home and my office, and contacting her parents about getting her a pet. What did Minerva say the password was again? Shoot. I knock again. The gargoyles begin mocking me. "Oooh, Ickle Weasley Professor can't remember how to get in?"

I pull aside the prefects and tell them what I expect from them, but that it by no stretch of the imagination means they can't have fun. I want it to be a great year for everyone. Ensuring that, especially for the first years, is their most important job. They seem relieved when I finish. Then I turn to someone who must be my Quidditch captain.
"I'm Natalie McDonald, Professor Weasley," she says, holding her hand out to shake mine.
"It's nice to meet you, Miss McDonald. I heard great things about you," I tell her.
She blushes slightly and says, "Thank you. I only hope I don't let Gryffindor down."
"Ah, that is what I need to talk to you about. I hope I don't let Gryffindor down. But as both Quidditch referee and head of Gryffindor house, I will have to be very careful to not show any partiality on the pitch. However, that does not mean I won't be available for you to ask questions to before the games." I grin. "So when are you holding tryouts, who are our best players, what are your strategies for this year--you know, all that good stuff."
August 25th, 2007
I've been planning this all week. I know just what I want to do. I have the reservations all made. I put on my brown shirt and slacks with my bronze tie. I should have told Megan to wear Muggle clothes. Oh well. She can change. I grab the bouquet of yellow daisies with black eyes and Apparate to her door step.
I knock.
August 24th, 2007
I receive a patronus message . . . Bill and his boys are in Hogsmeade and want to visit. But this patronus isn't Bill's. Must have had someone send it for him. I leave a note on my office door for anyone who might need me and head down the grounds to the village. I can see Bill standing near the pub, both my nephews strapped onto him. I don't know that I'll ever get used to seeing my older, cooler, brilliant brother as Mr. Mum.

I get the picnic ready and go to pick up Megan. Now if I can just keep from being an idiot. I knock on the door
July 31st, 2007
I’m home. It was great to spend time with Mum and Dad and see where they are. I’m sure they’ll help Percy, if not become as good as new, at least get him to be a functional part of the family. I missed everyone while I was gone. One person I missed more than anyone.

Sleeping on the floor makes getting up early easy. I sit on the floor cross-legged and watch Percy sleeping. Yeah, he’s been a git—but I wasn’t there for him. I had Bill. The twins had each other. Ginny and Ron were a pair too. He might not have been such a git if I acted more like the brother closest to him in age and less like Bill’s best buddy.
Well, now he doesn’t know who he is. He’ll be lucky if he recovers any of his memories if his Obliviation is like Butts’s. But he’s still my brother. I can be a better brother to him now than I was before. I don’t know what kind of Percy he will be, but I’ll be there for him, whoever he turns out as.
I pull out my phone and start text messaging:
*Bill, GEORGE, Fred, Ron, Ginny. We’ve found him! Taking him to Mum and Dad. Charlie and Fleur*
The phone starts playing ‘He Ain’t Heavy, He’s my Brother’ when I hit send.

I go up to my room and drink a few shots of Dad's Scotch, then take a nap. When I wake up, my hand is swollen and red and throbbing like mad. Serves me right for acting like a bloody baby. I try a little left handed magic to try to heal it, but no luck. Great, now I have to go tell some healer what an arse I am and that I punched a wall.
I Apparate to St. Mungo's. The receptionist asks what my business is. "Charlie Weasley, broken hand."
July 11th, 2007
I read the Witch Weekly--how the hell did the Weasleys manage to get mentioned in the Gossip column four times? Since when did anyone ever notice us? Well, the Ginny one is true. The one about the twins is partially true. So that leaves Percy. I decide to Apparate to the offices of Witch Weekly and find out who the hell this Eison D. Alley is and what he knows. I pop outside the offices and bang open the double doors with my shoulders.

My mobile starts to play "Bridge over Troubled Water." I look at my phone--Dad. How did he know I needed him.
"Dad? Oi. How did you know I wanted you to call?"
June 20th, 2007
I finally decide on what to make and just as it gets done cooking there's a knock on my door.
